Dear Friend,
I am a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, and so is my wife. My grandparents lived in Lakewood for 70 years. My mother graduated from Alameda High School. My aunt graduated from Bear Creek High School. My wife and her brothers attended Arvada West. Jefferson County is my home, my family's home and my wife's family's home, and I'm running for Jefferson County Commissioner because I'm sick and tired of the incredible corruption and mismanagement that has plagued this county for so many years. We live in Jeffco because it has so much to offer, and we deserve a county government that is open, responsible and effective. Please join me as together we take back our county!

| "I'M VOTING FOR THE BETTER PERSON."
Our campaign received more great press on Thursday, this time in a preview article in the Rocky Mountain News. Here's a brief excerpt:
When lifelong Republican Pat Richardson pitches the candidacy of a former student running for Jefferson County commissioner, she's often told by her neighbors there is no way they'll vote for a Democrat.
The retired schoolteacher is backing Democrat Jason Bane, who is challenging the incumbent commissioner, Republican Kevin McCasky.
Richardson said she's convinced Bane will clean up a "corrupt and dysfunctional county government."
"I'm voting for the person. I tell them I think he's the better candidate because he's smart and he's honest," she said.
Richardson's switch reflects the challenge facing Republican candidates in counties that once were traditional strongholds but are increasingly becoming swing districts.

DO AS HE SAYS, NOT AS HE DOES
UPDATE: The Rocky Mountain News ran a follow-up story, which says that it was McCasky's responsibility to call the Department of Labor.
For the past several weeks, my opponent has been talking tough about illegal immigration, proposing a new program to crack down on undocumented workers because "that's the kind of leadership I'll bring," as he says.
As it turns out, while he's been saying this, his campaign has been paying for illegal immigrants to deliver his campaign literature all over the county. You can read all about it at The Rocky Mountain News and The Canyon Courier.
I'm not going to say one thing and do something completely different as County Commissioner. If you elect me, you'll know where I stand - and you'll know that my actions will follow my words.
THERE'S A NEW BANE IN TOWN
My wife, Julie, has been pregnant for the length of my campaign for County Commissioner, and on Sept. 20 - also our fifth wedding anniversary - she gave birth to our second child: Marcus David Bane (big sister is two-year-old Stella). JASON ENDORSED BY POLICE, FIREFIGHTERS!
Great news: I have been endorsed by the Jefferson County Sheriffs' Deputies and the West Metro Firefighters. I am the only candidate in Jeffco to have received the endorsement of both groups. Click here to read the full press release, and here's an excerpt from The Columbine Courier:
A group representing nearly 300 Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies and sheriff's office employees is throwing its support behind Jason Bane in the District 2 county commission race.
"Like most Jeffco citizens, we're embarrassed by the scandals and investigations that have hampered our county government for years," said Mike Prange, a Jeffco deputy with 18 years experience and president of the West Metro Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 18. "Jefferson County is badly in need of new, dynamic leadership, and we believe that Jason Bane has the background, the experience and the character necessary to be a great county commissioner."
Bane, 31, is the Lakewood Democrat challenging incumbent District 2 Commissioner Kevin McCasky, a Republican. He also has earned the endorsement of West Metro Firefighters Local 1309.
"I think it's really telling that the people who know this county best, who are out there day to day, chose to endorse me," Bane said. "They've seen the problems we've had with scandals and investigations and lawsuits, and I think, like a lot of the public, they want to see a new direction and a new energy in the county."
